子曰：“父母之年，不可不知也。一则以喜，一则以惧。”
The Master said, 'A man should not be ignorant of the age of
father and mother. It is a matter, on the one hand, for rejoicing and, on the
other, for anxiety.'

réjouir de leur longévité, et craindre qu'ils ne viennent à mourir. »
